Mechanized Track Patrol:

Geomatic Technologies (GT) worked in partnership with RailCorp providing GT’s framework imaging and positioning technology AIMS, and associated system integration services to develop a world first Mechanized Track Patrol process. This process is an alternative solution to foot patrols, reducing safety risks while meeting track inspection requirements. AIMS has been successfully deployed for various rail activities including track patrol, asset mapping, geometry survey and structure gauge surveys and is used by railways throughout Australia.

"In September 2001, RailCorp NSW began an innovation project on Mechanized Track Patrol that centred on utilizing the latest imaging technology as an alternative to track patrols on foot. The potential was emerging for new technology to replace on-foot track patrol requirements and to reduce safety risks to staff in line with RailCorp’s safety policy. Today, the prototype Mechanized Track Patrol system is being utilized for track certification on 250km of the most congested parts of the RailCorp network. It replaces every second foot patrol for normal operation and replaces all foot patrols during major events".

Holland, F. et al (2006) 'Mechanized Track Patrol', in Proceedings of the Conference on Railway Engineering, CORE2006, Melbourne, Australia 30 April - 3 May 2006

If you are seeking imaging technology to successfully complete your patrols and reduce safety risks, GT Mechanized Track Patrol can be delivered to you upon your distinctive requirements.

Mapping Address and Routing Service:

Geomatic Technologies (GT) Mapping Address and Routing Service (MARS) provides address validation, information retrieval (based on a postcode, local government area, electorate, etc.), routing and mapping functionality in a standards based interface that can be easily integrated into business applications.

Typically Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are isolated from the enterprise architecture and composed of many disparate applications supported through relationships with many different vendors. An isolated GIS framework struggles to find general acceptance and use in an organization and as such does not fully support optimal decision making.

Utilizing GT MARS, GIS functionality can be relocated with a standard enterprise architecture where it is available to everybody, everywhere, at any time. Through adoption of vendor independent interoperability standards, functionality can be consumed by business process enabling tools providing a seamless and cost effective solution to spatially enable your business.

Mapping Mashup Services:

Geomatic Technologies (GT) offers a consultant, development and support service around the deployment of Mapping Mashups. A mapping mashup is a website or web application that seamlessly combines mapping (spatial data) content from more than one source in an integrated experience. GT can provide a mapping mashup as a hosted or customer deployed solution. Google and Microsoft are establishing themselves worldwide as key platforms for mapping mashups containing spatial data visualization and web-based application development environments through their respective offerings; Google Maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth.

For enhanced application functionality, mapping mashups can be connected to other spatial services. GT provides geocoding, routing and address validation services that are compatible with mapping mashups.

Recent Projects which have included mapping mashups:

  1. Rails in the Dust - a Microsoft Virtual Earth mapping mashup developed for railway enthusiasts to share locations, images and information about historic railway sites in Australia. The mashup allows registered users to draw in railways and rail sites of interest over either a photographic or map base.
  2. Localwise Lite – a Google Maps mashup that combines property sales history information with Google Map’s base layers (transport network and property boundaries).

Geomatic Technologies Mapping Mashup Service provides you with a customized package delivered upon your distinctive requirements.

Mobile Workforce:

Geomatic Technologies (GT) Mobile Workforce solutions have been created to assist our customers by reducing operating costs, improving operational efficiency and enhancing data quality for mobile solutions. Our solutions allow mobile workforces to operate under a structured framework which enforces defined business workflows and enforces data quality and consistency.

Mobile solutions may be deployed on a range of devices including PDAs, Tablet PCs, Notebook PCs or mobile phones. A key advantage of the GT offering is the ability to operate in an “occasionally connected” mode, which removes the reliance on full time network connectivity and allows workers to continue working in areas with no connectivity.

The cornerstone of GT Mobile Workforce solutions is the enterprise Field Mobile Computing – Asset Inspection (GT FMC-AI) product, built on the Sybase mobility platform. GT FMC-AI is designed to reduce operating costs by improving the efficiency of the mobile workforce and enhance customer service. The GT FMC-AI system combines the specific business logic of major power distribution companies, with spatial data to provide information reliably, efficiently and accurately. This empowers decision makers to make more informed decisions, critical to maintaining the safety and economic viability of their electricity distribution network. The primary factor in achieving this is improving the availability and accuracy of asset and maintenance related data to and from the field.

Geomatic Technologies offer a range of solutions from stand alone deployments to full enterprise solutions. These solutions can be fully integrated with existing corporate systems.
