Geomatic Technologies Directors win 2006 Entrepreneur Award

Melbourne, Australia – Adrian Lewis and Mark Judd, Directors of Geomatic Technologies (GT), have been announced as the winners of the Southern Region Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards in the category Technology, Communications, E-Commerce and Life Sciences for 2006. This renowned global business award, aims to honour entrepreneurs for their success in "building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses". Ernst & Young is the proud founder and producer of the Entrepreneur Of The Year awards and winners are recognised internationally as "world class entrepreneurs".

To achieve this outstanding result, Adrian and Mark underwent a lengthy process in which they were judged on their Entrepreneurial Spirit, Innovation, Personal Integrity/Influence, Financial performance, Strategic direction and National/Global Impact. The judges acknowledged that Adrian and Mark "pioneered the use of GPS for land-based mapping applications and are recognised internationally". Furthermore the judges stated that they have "demonstrated personal integrity and entrepreneurial spirit in building their distinctive business". Speaking after the award ceremony the two were clearly flattered by their recognition. "It is a true honour to be considered worthy for such an award. It is humbling to be recognised by our business peers in this fashion."

In the last 18 months GT has won several awards from the Australian Spatial Business community and in 2005 Mark Judd was recognised as Spatial Professional of the Year. In addition with their ongoing involvement in Government and strategic planning, GT took a leading role in representing the industry, during the application for the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) in Spatial Information. Adrian and Mark will now move on as contenders in the National Australian 2006 Entrepreneurs of the Year Award.
