Geomatic Technologies Mobile Workforce Solution Wins Spatial Industry Award
22nd September 2006
Cairns, Australia - The winner of the Industry and Entrepreneurship Award of the 2006 Queensland Spatial Excellence Awards, has been announced as Geomatic Technologies (GT), for the Field Mobile Computing (GT FMC) – Asset Inspection Project. The award was presented to GT Director, Adrian Lewis, at a ceremony held at the Cairns Convention Centre in Cairns, Queensland. The GT FMC submission presented the background, development and current usage of the system with particular reference to the work-order management requirements of Ergon Energy. Ergon's service region includes many remote locations in rural Queensland, where communication is often disrupted. The GT FMC system combines the specific business logic of major power distribution companies, with spatial data to provide information reliably, efficiently and accurately. Thus empowering decision makers to make more informed decisions, critical to maintaining the safety and economic viability of their electricity distribution network.
