Melbourne, Australia - At the 2006 Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards
Richelle Pearson of Geomatic Technologies (GT), was honoured with the Young Spatial
Professional of the Year Award. This prestigious Awards night was held at the Melbourne
Aquarium on Wednesday the 6th September. The evening was hosted by the Victorian Regional
groups of the Australian Spatial Information Business Association (ASIBA) and the Spatial
Sciences Institute (SSI).
The 2006 Victorian Spatial Excellence Awards aim
to reward individuals and organisations for their
accomplishments and contributions to their
industry. In addition, they enable individuals and
organisations to compete against the best in
Victoria. The panel of judges consisted of industry
peers appointed by the ASIBA and SSI, for their
appreciation of the wide spectrum of applications in
spatial information and its associated technologies.
Richelle is a Business Analyst for GT and is responsible for liaising between customer project
representatives, internal project managers and technology consultants. Richelle provides technical
input to problem solving and the development of strategies and solutions for customers. The
Young Spatial Professional of the Year Award recognised Richelle’s significant contribution, in
“introducing leading edge spatial concepts to people inside and outside the profession and being
recognised as a mentor in the spatial industry.”
Being a quiet achiever, Richelle appeared overwhelmed and modest when accepting the award.
During the course of the evening, Richelle commented on how humbled she felt to have been a
nominee and that winning was an unexpected surprise.
In addition to Richelle winning the Young Spatial Professional of the Year award, Geomatic
Technologies and the Department of Infrastructure (DOI) also won the Infrastructure and
Construction Award and the Victorian Government Award for Spatial Excellence.
